About Limes & Lycopene

Welcome to Limes & Lycopene – my name is Kathryn Elliott and this is my blog.

I’m a nutritionist and herbalist. I work in private practice in Sydney, Australia plus I also write and teach. Limes & Lycopene is all about food and health. While there’s a glut of information available on these subjects, much of it’s confusing, misleading and contradictory. This site is dedicated to cutting through the rubbish, misinformation and downright silliness about health, diet and food.

About this blog

For those of you new to blogging, a blog is a type of website, that’s updated regularly. The articles appear in date order, with the most recent information at the top of the page. For more about blogging in general, take a look at the Problogger site.

I blog regularly, posting new articles on a regular basis. Limes & Lycopene covers a wide range of topics, although my aim is always to offer practical and trustworthy solutions to the question of how to eat well and lead a healthy and happy life.

Comments and feedback

I love receiving feedback, questions and comments on Limes & Lycopene. I want to know what you, my readers, are interested in and the questions that trouble you.

If you disagree with something I say, or want me to cover a certain topic, let me know. At the end of each article, there’s a “comments” link. Clicking on that will take you to a form, where you can leave your feedback.

Review policy

While I occasionally review products, I do not accept freebies or gifts. If I review something, then I will have bought it myself.

About Kathryn

I live in the inner west of Sydney, with my partner, Richard and our cute-but-dumb cat Trilby.

I’m a nutritionist and herbalist. I see clients privately at a clinic in Gladesville. Plus I write and teach about all things food, health and naturopathy related.

Ever since I can remember food and health have been central to my life. Snippets from childhood include: a summer of sharing first nectarines with dad; mum making a rabbit cake for my ninth birthday; Turkish delight at Christmas; making creme caramel from a packet with mum; swapping sandwiches with friends. Big decisions have been made around these themes, from realising as a teenager how food affected my health, becoming a vegetarian, through to the decision to become a naturopath.

And food and health dominate my relationships with my family, partner and friends: laughing with mum about our mutual habit of changing recipes in fundamental and bizarre ways (Hungarian Mushroom Pie anyone?); marking occasions with my family around a meal; fussing over friends’ diets; cooking and catching up with Richard at home.

Then I became a naturopath, and food, diet and health are now the foundations of my professional, as well as personal life.
